Tried it on tabletop simulator and was sold. The deck building is amazing. It was immersive and that was really jaunting for a card game.

0:27 "London's Kings College plays host to a number of Satanic horrors". No. No. No. H.P. Lovecraft's fiction had nothing to do with the religious or supernatural, and that's what set him apart from previous authors. He invented the science fiction idea of "Cosmic Horror". I.e., that human beings and our conception of the universe was entirely inconsequential to a race of extra-dimensional beings that could destroy us if they were ever awakened.

Exceptional review even by the lofty standards you've cultivated!

Special thanks for directing my play group to the absolute perfect game for our tastes.

  • Hans Albers 19 hours ago

😂 Really well produced, especially the movielike entrance. This way of presenting is really innovative and unique in this genre. I have seen a LOT of your videos, and most of them are awesome! I have laughed so much last time about your cookie-dry humor. Best regards from Hamburg/Germany

Just got the game a played through the first two scenarios, looking forward to more of this game! Thanks for the recommendation!

  • 7:22 "You can activate a card"

Quinns, what are you doing. Leave that cat alone.

Also, your character apparently has three hands.

My one major complaint with this game after the first expansion cycle is that while the base game comes in a nice box, all of the subsequent packs have been in those little plastic pack-container-things and it makes getting all of the specific parts of their scenarios together just a bit more of a pain than through the boxes.

Still less than the hours of set up for regular Arkham Horror, to be fair

  • Arthur Burgan 19 hours ago

Can someone recommend more games like this please?

  • Sofia Avgerinou 19 hours ago

You make me want to buy it now..NOWW. Your great review just helped me decide which one of the arkham/eldrich/cthulu whatever games are out there to choose. Thank you!

What's the music at the beginning? It sounds REALLY familiar.

  • R.C Jones 19 hours ago

Yeah… 20 minute video and it's no more straightforward since the start.

I love the way you reviewed the game. I just picked up the Core set on Friday and will be playing it shortly. Thank for sharing your thoughts and telling a great story along the way. This was my first time on your channel. Thumbs up and I subscribed. I can't wait to play the game and then watch your video on your first game. Thank you again.

Well, it's only a matter of time till you review Mansions of Madness, right? You guys have an interesting taste, I always learn something new or crucial about the board games I plan to buy.

  • Random Person 19 hours ago

Sorry guys but I just can't get into LCGs. For the same price that I'd pay for a few hundred cards (as in the core set and all expansions), I could buy multiple board games with all the included dice, tokens, standees AND the same amount (or close to) of cards with organizers. They're charging too much for simply too little in my opinion.

Guy 1: "Did you bring your revolver?"
Guy 2: "…Ummm…well I've uh, I uh actually brought my encyclopedia!!"
Guy 1: /looks at guy 2 in disgust and disapointment "Ohhhhhhhh! >:("
    …Guy 1: I brought my encyclopedia…

    lmfao…that was awesome 😀

the expansions allow more people to play the game?

  • Lee Ambolt 19 hours ago

Does it have the "rich get richer" problem where if you do well in a scenario, the next one is that bit easier and so on, but if you do poorly, the next one becomes next to impossible etc etc? Or do they recommend you adjust the difficulty levels perhaps based on how you succeeded in a scenario (could be based on the XP you received)

i am really thinking about buying this game.ive seen so many positive reviews and i like card games.the only thing that holds me back and bothers me its the replay value.i dont want a game that is kept alive only through buying expansion

This was my first time watching an SU & SD review video, and I'm actually very upset that I've only just now discovered your work. This review was brilliant, and I rarely use that word. Why? Because I'm a "Yank", but that's how much I enjoyed the video, I enjoyed it so much that you've forced me to use unfamiliar verbiage. lol. The writing was well done, witty, and very funny at times. Also, you both work very well together and have a fantastic onscreen chemistry. The review itself was great and inspired my wife and I to immediately order the core set. We can't wait to play it, furthermore we look forward to watching many more of your videos. I truly wish you nothing but the best with your work. In my opinion you guys are exactly where you should be, in front of a camera. Thanks again!

The low replayability factor is why I don't invest in LCGs

The "chaos bag" is now my favorite euphemism ever.

  • Christian Adrián Álvarez Báez 19 hours ago

This game could really be played by 4 people? I read that you need 2 core sets

  • BardicLiving 19 hours ago

It occurred to me that it would actually be really gross if a real romantic couple made game reviews and filled them with sexual innuendo.

  • 王欢 19 hours ago

First Lovecraft game you recommend? What about Mansions of Madness?

  • dorpth 19 hours ago

Oh what the heck, SU&SD hates Arkham AND Eldritch Horror??? AH was a great co-op for the time, even if it's aged badly. Eldritch Horror is fantastic. I don't know anyone who doesn't like it.

The card game? A really bad value for your money with poorly designed campaigns. I can't imagine anyone but LCG fanatics liking this, people who are suffering so badly down the LCG Stockholm syndrome rabbit hole that they'll declare their love for any LCG that they've sunk hundreds of dollars into.

  • dorpth 19 hours ago

I got this game hoping for a narrative campaign with crazy branching outcomes.

The narrative is decent, but you only get to enjoy it once on the first playthrough. After that you're just left with the mechanics, and they aren't fun enough to carry the game once separated from the narrative.

The base game campaign was terribly designed (you're totally screwed the 3rd scenario if you didn't ace the 2nd scenario, and the best strategy for scenario 2 & 3 is counter intuitive to what the game tells you). The branch effects don't change much.

The price model is atrocious. There's no reason for them to force you to buy multiple core sets if you want a complete game for 2-4 players. They could have just sold investigator decks separately for that, but force you to buy entire core sets when you don't 60% of the components in it. New campaigns are $15 PER SCENARIO. That's $15 per 60-90 minute session.

I can only recommend this game if you're a LCG junkie and don't mind paying $45 for a one-time use narrative campaign. So, $45 for one night of fun (on top of the $80-$120 for core sets). Otherwise, Mansions of Madness is the way better choice, or Eldritch Horror if you don't care about narrative and want endless replayability.

Whenever I watch your videos I can't stop thinking about how much Quinns looks like Chris Marshal

  • Nicholas Freeman 19 hours ago

I would love to see you guys review Mansions of Madness 2.0

I am debating between the two for a casual themed board games meet up.

  • Jim Smith 19 hours ago

Thanks Guys! I never figured out whether I wanted to get involved in these games. This card game looks very accessible. Love the humor, and candor of your reviews. Keep up the good work!

  • Nina Lambacher 19 hours ago

Apart from the bit about the eggplant, violet, amethyst, orchid, purple…….. I especially love the bit about the Survivor: "…isn't really good at anything… …with hight tech equipment like: a coat the Survivor does what has to be done. In a coat. And when that doesn't work they hide on a windowsill…"

  • Nina Lambacher 19 hours ago

    Hilarious, thx!

  • Dovah Kiin 19 hours ago

I hate you guys so goddamn much right now. This is a fantastic review and I want to play this more than anything else. But as I'm writing this, for the life of me I can't find a base set in stock. WOE IS ME.

  • Jonatan Dereke 19 hours ago

This might be the best and most entertaining table top game review in like forever, and ever, and ever

  • Parisa Shirvani 19 hours ago

Quinns, you and your friends can't combine your actions in any order, each player has to take a turn and finish and then other player takes actions . Only reason I point it out is because it makes the game harder, some cooperation plans get harder to pull off.
    Ps. Love you guys

  • Steam_Fried_Millenial 19 hours ago

Each scenario is replayable , right?

  • Mark Ortego 19 hours ago

I like this video but just an FYI, the game is listed as for 1 – 2 players with a suggestion that it could be for 3 or 4 players.
    🙂
